ETA: I’m now closed for paid critiques. I’ve taken on all I can for the moment and hope to reopen sometime in the coming months. Thank you to everyone who sent pages to me! I’ve really enjoyed reading.
I’m once again open for paid critiques! I don’t usually stay open for long—I have to juggle critiques with my own writing as well as my other job. So if you’re hoping for a critique, sign up sooner rather than later. I’ll update this post when I close to critiques again.
I read some very lovely pages last time I opened for critiques and I can’t wait to see what I’ll get to read this time. Whether your story is an early draft or ready to query, I’m excited to take a look and give you feedback that I hope will help you work toward publishing your fiction.
How To Submit
Head to my website to purchase a critique of 10-50 pages of your manuscript.*
You can include a query letter and/or synopsis if you’d like (see more instructions on my site).
The cost is $4 per double-spaced page in 12-pt font, submitted in a Word or Google doc.
I critique fiction of all genres and age categories, but not non-fiction, poetry, or memoir.
*If you’re hoping for a critique of more than 50 pages and you’ve never received a critique from me, please start with a 10-50 page critique and then decide if you like working with me. From there, if you’d like a longer critique, email me and I’ll let you know if I have space in my schedule. I don’t offer refunds, and I wouldn’t want anyone to pay for a long critique just to realize that my style of critiquing doesn’t work for them! (Fwiw, no one has ever asked me for a refund.)
What You’ll Receive
I’ll provide feedback on plot, characters, and other big-picture story elements in a way that aims to help you work toward publication of your fiction.
Turnaround time is 2-5 weeks, depending on the length of your submission.
My feedback includes in-line notes and a summary of suggestions for revision.
I’ve critiqued work for best-selling and award-winning writers. (You can find me in the acknowledgement pages of books by such writers as Emily Henry and Traci Chee.) I’ve also taught quite a few writing classes both on my own website and through other organizations. My own novels have garnered starred reviews and places on state reading lists. I’m looking forward to working with you!
Parker Peevyhouse is the author of Strange Exit and The Echo Room (Tor Teen), which have been called “compulsively readable” and "thrilling" in starred reviews, and Where Futures End (Penguin), which was named a Best Book by the New York Public Library, the Chicago Public Library, and Bank Street.
Thank you for the opportunity!
